Just for fun ✨
Here’s a peek into some of my personal design projects. These are the creative experiments and ideas I’ve had fun exploring on my own. Whether it’s a new technique or raising awareness for an issue close to my heart, each project is a chance for me to dive into my passions and push my design boundaries.
Being Asian American:
From A to Z
Being Asian American: From A to Z is a series of twenty-six animations, one for every letter of the alphabet. Each animation depicts a term relevant to the Asian American experience that begins with the corresponding letter of the alphabet. Modeled after a child’s alphabet book, the animations strive to educate non-Asian Americans on what it is like to be Asian American today. Terms like “assimilation” and “exotic” seem insignificant to non-Asian Americans; however, concepts like these are integral to being Asian American and each animation aims to prove this. This project is a response to the ignorance and racism towards people of color that was exposed after the 2016 election and during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The topic of race is not black and white–literally and figuratively. Asian Americans are often excluded from the race conversation because of the “perpetual foreigner” and “model minority” myths that belittle and exclude Asian Americans’ experiences in this country. This project exhibits the complexities of being Asian American to prove that we too experience racism and deserve representation.

This brochure was crafted to complement the animation project, offering a deeper dive into the meaning behind each animation. The design harmonizes with the visual style of the animations, using bold colors and related graphics to guide the reader through the narrative. Each section of the brochure corresponds to a specific animation, providing context, inspiration, and key details that enrich the viewer's understanding and appreciation of the work.
Book Cover Designs for Amy Tan Box Set
I designed these 3 book covers and box as a personal project and tribute to one of my favorite authors, Amy Tan. The designs were inspired by the books’ key themes surrounding Asian and Asian American culture and heritage, particularly for women. I drew from my personal experiences as an Asian American woman to create designs that represented the author’s stories in a contemporary way while still honoring to the novels’ historical importance.
